Explorations on Urban Design through Networks – Caracas – 2005 // 9th semester project // Tutor: Prof. Arch. Miguel Acosta // grade: 20/20

Urban Design based on the concern about the lack of recreation areas as well as pedestrian connections in the city of Caracas. The exercise proposes to urbanize a third of what would be La Carlota Airport and leave the other two thirds as a public park. Connections are generated through a mixtures of activities and uses: residential, institutional, commercial, business and services; functioning as a buffer to the existing strong industrial activity that occurs between the proposal and the park and the two highways that enclose the area. These activities combine programs and circulations to create mutually supportive spatial and interchange systems and subsystems. Based on these criteria, urban planning took into account analyzing models of cities in which systems function as networks, in this case XIII neighborhood in the city of Paris was the starting point, and urbanism was based on preexisting architectural models and typologies in the city of Caracas, that could respond to the systems proposed.
